The 2nd Congress of the Eritrean Democratic Party

The 2^nd Congress of the Eritrean Democratic Party (EDP) was officially opened today, July 25, 2006, in Milan, Italy. 

Participants of the Congress include representatives from Europe, the United States of America, Australia, Africa (the Sudan and South Africa) and the Middle East.

The Congress will run from July 25 to July 29^th with a number of important issues to be covered.   

In his opening remarks, Mr. Semere Kesete, a member of  EDP´s Secretariat and Chairman of the Congress Preparatory Committee, thanked participants for travelling from various parts of the world to attend the Congress.  He also  expessed his gratitude to members of the local EDP branch for hosting the Congress and the impressive logistical organization. 

The Congress is expected to draw a clear strategy and work plan that will expedite the end of the current oppressive and dictatorial regime
