 Al-Bashir Restricts Americans Movement at Limit of 25 Kilometers

 Khartoum, Sept. 24 (SUNA)- President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al Bashir, has restricted the movement of all the Americans in Sudan at a geographical limit of 25 kilometers, as from the Republican Palace in Khartoum.

At a press conference he held Sunday evening at the Friendship Hall,
President Al-Bashir said that the decision comes as an act of equal treatment to that made to him and the accompanying delegation during their recent visit to New York to participate at meetings of the Peace and Security Council.

Asmara, 23 September 2006 – The Public Relations Office of the Eritrean Police Force disclosed that some members of the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Eritrea and Ethiopia (UNMEE) are engaged in illegal activities in violation of their responsibility.

A member of the Mission who was apprehended while illegally smuggling 8 Eritrean youths from Asmara to Adigrat on August 28 admitted to the Eritrean Police that other UNMEE members are engaged in similar illegalactivities.

— Hundreds of Islamic militiamen in heavily armed trucks took over the southern town of Kismayo, one of the last seaports that had been outside their control in Somalia, witnesses said Sunday.

Main analysis: The Eastern Sudan talks are expected to conclude sessions soon.  (Sudansafary) 23-9-2006The Sudanese government has said many times that it is able to solve the entire pending problems Sudan is facing at the present time despite presence of difference concerning the issues of Darfur and the East.The Sudanese government was able to sign a peace deal with the SPLM to end the war in the south of Sudan that described as the longest running war in Africa.

...The agreement of Naivasha that put an end to the south Sudan war resulted in allocating the post of the first vice of Sudan to the SPLM in the person of its leader Salva Kiir Mayardit.

It is excepted that resolutions would be issued to lift the state of emergency in the east and open the borders with Asmara a move indicating that a progress at the Asmara talks was made. The parties to the talks have reached an agreement on the security arrangements file along with mutual understanding on the power and wealth sharing issues....

....Cumulatively, when 80% of the national budget of a given African country is covered by foreign assistance, simply because a given nation has hoisted high its flag or its citizens hold authority, is it possible to conclude that such a country is independent? Can we assert there really exist governments in Africa in general? What brought about the demise of their survival? Why should aid replace national policies and NGOs take the seat of government? These questions need to be answered.....
