 It is one thing to have a political disagreement but it is entirely different when one takes it as his job to attack others, with no regard for evidence, to simply please the enemies of EPDP. He is free to confess his past sins to those who unleashed him against the national progressive party. If he is guilt ridden because of his irresponsible past, we are not. He must understand though, EPDP will never trade the unity and integrity of the Eritrean people for anything less. EPDP was literally asked to attend the conference disarmed of any role as one of the hosts, just like Isayas demanded the opposition to join the PFDJ system as jale (Tigrigna word) without any agenda of their own. At issue is the one and only proxy warrior, Amaniel Hidrat who often loves to blame without any justifications.

في محددات الصورة التي يرسمها النظام الإرتري بلون واحد هو الأسود القاتم والتسطيح والفوضى وتعويم أزمته الداخلية المركبة على مشجب الحكومة الإثيوبية وعلاقاته الدوليةبأمريكة,اضافة لتعقيدات الوضع الداخلي الإرتري.

October 09, 2010 Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed has left the capital Mogadishu for Libya to attend the Afro- Arab summit there, a statement from the Presidency said Friday.

ELF takes position on the Addis declaration, Commission declares the Arabic version of the declaration de-facto Null and Void raising questions about the Commission's  mandate.

Meskerem 10-08-2010:  The Eritrean Liberation Front (ELF), in a statement issued in Arabic on October 7, 2010, under the title  “ An important statement, Issued by the Executive Committee of the Eritrean Liberation Front, called upon the Commission of the National Conference for Democratic Change to  put an end to the confusion “especially around the paragraph (of the) nationalities .“ and “…review the records, transcripts, written documents and video and audio which documented the activities of the forum and discussions with a view to clarify the truth..”

The statement also mentioned about the preparation of the eighth National Congress of the organization. ELF is the second EDA organization to call for the clarification of the paragraph regarding the right of nationalities  to self-determination up to secession and the fifth EDA member  to reject some parts of the Addis declaration.  It is to be remembered that ENSF lead by Ahmed Nasser had made similar call last month.

The statement of the ELF comes on the steps of the statement made by one of the commission members in the United States regarding the Addis declaration.  A commission member responding to questions concerning the discrepancy between the Arabic and Tigrinya versions of the now challenged Addis declaration stated that people should use the Tigrinya version of the declaration as a “reference”.  The member as such declared the Arabic version Null and Void.  The member added that the declaration was first written in Tigrinya and translated into Arabic, putting the blame squarely at the feet of those who translated the declaration into Arabic. So who translated the declaration into Arabic? And how come those who use to translate hate Arabic articles into English did not translate the Arabic declaration into English? ሰተትከ ሎም ዘበን:: ንስኽን ነጸላ ሃባኒ ኢልክን ትጻረፋ ንሕና ሓቂ ንፍሕር ብኣፍራዛ::

The EDA and other organizations who rejected a paragraph of the Addis declaration regarding nationalities have by-passed and dodged the issue of targeted religious persecution. The Arabic version, pertaining to religious persecution,  includes the following statement. (Note that the Tigrinya version shown below the translated English version is different)

# 4 Since it came to power in 1991, the dictator regime has done injustice and oppression upon the religion and beliefs of the people especially the Muslims. There fore the forum calls for right of religious freedom and beliefs.

# 4. ዲክታቶርያዊ ስርዓት ኤርትራ ብ1991 አብ ፖሎቲካዊ ስልጣን ካብ ዝመጽእ ጀሚሩ ንኩሎም ሃይማኖታትን እምነታትን ህዝብና ብዝተፋላለየ ደረጃታት ወጽዓታት ምብጽሑ ብድሕሪ ምርግጋጽ፡ አብ ኤርትራ መሰልን ነጻነትን ኩሎም ሃይማኖታትን እምነታትን ክኽበር ዋዕላ ወሲኑ::

Ethnic Separatists Vs. National and Religious Organizations?

 The EDA is split into half regarding the Addis declaration.  Five EDA organizations and parties have declared that the conference did not pass a resolution on right of nationalities to self-determination up to secession.  The other five organizations that have yet to take public position are organizations that support  the right of nationalities to self-determination up to secession ala TPLF . The  five that reject the "nationalities paragraph"  include two national organizations and three religious organizations.

EDA members were forced to take individual organizational positions about the Addis declaration after they failed to take joint position in their last meeting. It is reported that,  in the EDA meeting that was held after the conference to assess and evaluate the conference and its declaration,  irreconcilable difference emerged and threatened the EDA and its existence, even as a shaky  alliance.  Since they could not take joint position regarding the conference and the Addis declaration, they agreed, for the sake of the survival of the EDA, that each organization or party should take individual position in accordance with its charters and programs.

The declarations by the five EDA members and numerous other political and civic organizations puts into question the sincerity  and credibility of those who have been declaring the conference as a success and evading the issue of the tampered and fraudulently declared declaration (s).  

Commission's Mandate

Meskerem reached a fellow Eritrean and sought comment on the ELF statement. He said that it is good that they expressed concern about the nationalities issue; but,  since they were present at the conference,  they should have declared, as the others did,  that the conference did not pass such a resolution and that the issue of the right of nationalities to self-determination up to secession is a threat to national unity. He added that the ELF seems to put the burden on  the Commission. It is to be seen whether the commission has the mandate to investigate and conduct a hearing about  what was decided at  the conference. Such a move would open a can of worms as the majority of the conference participants are now openly stating that the conference as whole did not vote on any resolution or recommendation.

Mesfun Hagos: Roundtable Discussion with Bay Area Youth

Haw Mesfun Hagos is visiting the Bay Area in Northern California for a public meeting on Saturday October 9.  During his stay he attended a grand opening for a Eritrean Community Center for Santa Clara County where he met with many Bay Area residents.  Community organizers appreciated his presence.

On October 6^th he hosted a roundtable discussion with Eritrean youth in the Bay Area.  The discussion ranged from waela to ethnic question and participation of Eritrean Diaspora in the opposition.  The discussion was civil, educational, and very warm spirited.  The youth were very appreciative for haw Mesfun respected their invitation.   One of them said this evening was a very memorable evening for me and I am glad it happene
